Stress is a natural thing. We
can’t avoid it but we can control it. Stress
management is essential to living a healthy and productive life as
stress touches every part of it.
Stress left unchecked can lead to
serious illness. It is the cause of many a health problem including
high blood pressure, depression, asthma, and even heart disease.
One of the main causes of stress is
lack of control or being overwhelmed by circumstances. The less
control we have over a situation the more stress is generated over it.
Likewise, the more control we have
over a situation the less anxiety we feel and the more comfortable

management? Being organized and having well thought out plans.
Things may not always go as planned, but the more prepared we are, the
more control we have over each situation and ultimately our lives.
Remember the first day at a new
school? The anxiety you felt the night before? Most likely you were
entering a situation of which you had no control. Everything was new,
which was exhilarating, but the fear of the unknown was daunting.
Likewise, a change in your personal
life or at work may cause the same effect. Maybe you just started a
new job or a new family. You are very excited about the prospects of
change yet anxious because it is leading you into a new direction. Now
is the time to put into place some key items that will help you manage
your stress and be happier and more productive.
Tips and techniques for stress
management:
Exercise regularly- I am partial
to swimming but any exercise will get the job done. Just make sure you
are exercising at least a half hour per day, preferably an hour.
Plan ahead- With a family as in
business, plan your work and work your plan.
Keep a journal- writing is a great
way to express your feelings and alleviate stress.
Stay in touch with family and friends-
for some this might be a cause of stress but for most this is an
enjoyable way to stay connected and talk about what is on your mind.
